I must update. I have had enough of staring at the dumb picture of me kissing the medal everytime i visit the class blog. EEks!
I'm back from Japan! With lots of wonderful pictures to share. :) I went to the annual Tokyo Motor Show and it was fabulous! There were many exciting new cars and not to forget, their models are very capable. They can dance, emcee an event, catwalk, pose and they still look super duper good. It really puts our local so-called 'exciting' motor shows to shame! The whole hall was 4 times of that one one of our expos and it was such an exciting visual and aural treat that it was worth much more than the $10+ entry fee.
Gosh, i should upload the picture of the brand new GTR. slurps. "p or the concept cars by mazda etc. woohoo!
how's everyone doing? Please give an update if you're free. Congrats to all our NSmen who just founnd their new freedom. :D To the uni sophomores, kempetai!
Lets meet up for dinner / supper soon k!

A short note from Bboy seb: With photos and videos.
A medal that didn't come by my own strength. but by His.
Singapore Bboy Championships:
Seb shocked everyone; even himself. i was totally surprised at the crowd's response, and how i managed to hit most of the beats on sat. Seb was really most unexpected to perform anything, let alone even touch a medal. During the warm-up on saturday, i was really tensed up, while during the free workshop (dubbed the huge public embarrassment) of which 10 lucky contestants were selected to learn from bboy Mouse, the world number 1 bboy, onstage, i was really publicly put up for a free clown-show for my lack of skills. the other bboys were super good and picked up the skills and imitated the cool grooves effortlessly. shawn even told me some people were laughing when i was dancing and when i fell. hha.
thanks for coming down to support! i'm so sorry to let you guys wait because i didn't know about the programme, but thanks for coming to support me.
after a gruelling wait to about 8pm, i was scheduled for the last battle of the night. it came when i was to battle Bboy Norbin. He's strong. Once the emcee announced his name, the whole crowd cheered hard, and its effortlessly to take a noob like me to realise that he is a seasoned bboy who would have easily defeated me with the slightest effort. i knew where my standard was. when my name was announced, i could hear some cheers, but i didn't see anyone familiar. thanks for cheering, guys; else it'll be silent when i stepped onstage.
so norbin took the initiatve and battled me. He was really awesome. so so so good. his techniques were seasoned and skilful, his style soulful and mature, and he looks so comfortable dancing.
Alright, since its a public embarrassment, i'll give it my all. i knew i wouldn't get into the finals, so even if i do anything outrageous and silly and dumb and stupid, the crowd would probably see it once, and not even recall my face on this breakdance stage. no more will the name bboy seb appear.
alright, so i toprocked and danced. i felt really carefree and my fear of man / crowd disappeared and i hit the beats! and surprising, the crowd roared with cheers and applause!
then it was norbin's turn again. oh man, he was really really good. i really loved his dances!!! and his freezes were awesome. i know my techniques suck - the only way i can ever give a commendable performance is to hit the beat. so i relaxed even more and gave a sizzling salsa step and twist to breakdance toprock. think the crowd was really encouraging and i danced to my heart's content.
i was so delighted at the limelight and attention that my third round of battle was really effortless to hit the beat and by the time i wrapped up the whole battle, i was in cloud's nine and damian the emcee rushed up to give me a bear hug! the whole crowd was totally shocked at my performance and i really thanked norbin for teaching me such a great awesome battle and actually inspiring me to relax and enjoy onstage. once i came offstage, i saw greg and the other bboy idols. it felt really good to be able to shake hands with all the bboy pros and experts of the singapore breakdance scene - people whom i stood gawking offstage when they performed. i know where my standard lies, and i am truly aware going for a comp like this is insane and considered suicidal, considering my infantry steps into breaking and the sky-high standards of the other breakers. but you guys are awesome! judges bboy mouse and unico were totally impressed and congratulated me. they never thought i could even emerge as a blackhorse! i was glad i gave a commendable effort to battle in my first step into the breakdance scene and competitions.
i told my friends in church i'll faint if they announce that i will make it to the finals. my name wasn't in the finals but - i was up for the special awards! i almost died when my dance classmates, sean and jayden told me im going to compete too. they weren't a surprise to go into the finals - because they're good but i was shocked i was to dance on sunday night - the finals as well!!
really thank greg for his encouraging comments - that he would love to see me in the finals just before the results were posted on the booth.
~~~ I almost died when i saw these clips. i need to improve my dancing by great gigantic leaps, because my techniques need a lot of smoothening out. i need to get my freezes as well. those hand-stands, elbow stands, power freezes, etc.
Battle: bboy champ (singapore) 1st round: seb vs norbin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=652v2Z9UKqw my dance was like totally unflattering. Norbin is clearly the winner - and his moves are sleek, clean, stylish, mature and his techniques are really smooth. He seems very shocked at the way i danced. Ok, i admit a lot of people are. i almost puked when i reviewed this clip and saw my dance. Got to brush up a lot! 3 times of falling flat on the ground on my butt isn't a nice feeling.
Battle: bboy champ sg - Special battle Seb vs Yogi:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaimfHbtEKA Yogi appears so relaxed and calm during the dance battle and composed despite all the airy hype about me. & he is good! i love how he sets himself up freezes after freezes effortlessly.
group photo. i was really honoured to share the same stage as all the bboy pros and even share a same photo with them. woohoo! bboy mouse, mahmood, and the runner-up duo (i forgot their names ooops) and bboy yogi.
bboy yogi, bboy seb and bboy. oh sheesh hey sir i forgot your name again. me and ms chen. ms chen took the stage for bgirl battles!
mark, dj (the one who spins at mos), seb and greg.
this is a really precious photo. Left: World's number 1 bboy and UK Bboy Champion: mouse.
Right: Bboy Farhan: One of Singapore's best bboys who has represented Singapore in many regional / international competitions, winner of floorskillz (Singapore breakdance competition).
Hey peeps, in case you all dont know, I'm in America!!! I'm on the Work and Travel programme, working at the Yellowstone National Park. It's the place where you learn in Geography, about the Old Faithful Geyser going off like every 92 minutes. This place is totally awesome. Everything is just so nice. I get to see a whole sky of sky at night and it snowed like 3 weeks ago. Totally cool. That's about it and I'm totally lazy to update any photos...
PS: its actually birdshit. oops. but it sure does look like a ghost!! eeks.
i've several updates: 1. GSS is here. yupp, looking forward to the next outing. 2. my dance comp details are finalised on 16th june 07 at heerens, 5pm. come down to support. :) its a one-on-one duo, with the breakdance pro-s, n honestly, i'm very tensed up about it. don't wanna get pawned by the experts but i'm so tensed up my moves are stiff now. sos! 3. i lost my windmill. hv rotting feet (due to not resting my feet enough), stage fright (gulps) and i'm kind of nervous about my competition. thanks aaron for sharing breathing tips with me. 4. popped over 07s62's blog. Click me to go there. they seem to be a funky class too. woohoo.
yupp guys, i cant spin my windmill by june. haha, i'm trying to recover my blue-black and the peeling feet, and the muscle fatigue. am trying to forget about the pain(s) and hit the dance floor again. yupp, so now, really focusing hard. and trying to get into the mood of enjoying dancing, rather than forcing myself to perform, so that my moves look good. so yeah, i need lots of help.
you can help!! be my audience. judge my moves and tell me how i can improve. next outing i'll dance and u must tell me which parts i have to improve. cannot malu on stage hoho.
till then, cya guys. oh yesh, drop a short note here on the blog if u're free. random facts.
AMA (plus shopping girls and boys): lets chiiioooong shopping.
regards, seb
